Harry Redknapp defends ex-West Ham boss Slaven Bilic

Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic was amongst the first managerial casualties of the season, sacked and replaced by David Moyes at the start of November after a humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

While nobody can doubt Bilic’s passion for West Ham or his endearing personality, many would argue his departure was a long time coming. The Hammers just haven’t been quite right since the end of the Croatian’s first season in charge when he lead them to seventh place – and particularly since Dimitri Payet left the club under a dark cloud in January 2017.

Former Irons gaffer Harry Redknapp, however, believes not all aspects of the first team – namely transfers – were completely under Bilic’s control and has also claimed the 49-year-old would have eventually turned his side’s wayward form around.
